The layout of eBooks is the creation process of the electronic version of the book, which will be reproduced on the special devices ‘readers’ or by the apps for reading eBooks on the smartphones or tablets.
Layout designer is the specialist with appropriate professional skills who has the following tasks:
- development of the text structure and the title of the book;
- markup of the elements;

Illustrations. All graphic elements (tables, illustrations, graphics, etc.) are inserted into the manuscript as a picture, with few exceptions. This peculiarity is related to standard sizes of electronic readers which are usually used for reading eBooks.
The screen of the reader is small and monochrome (in 60% of cases e-ink), therefore technical capacity is limited and required more specific actions.
The scale. Another difference between a conventional printed publication and an electronic one is that the view of the eBook pages can be changed. The reader changes the font and the scale himself according to his preferences.
